Science and technology before 1500
Founded in 2025, Fulcrum brings together Australasian scholars working on premodern science and technology broadly conceived. We are especially interested in how science and technology interact with other elements of culture such as gender, religion, philosophy, art, identity, history and historiography…
About the founder
Fulcrum was founded in 2025 by Dr Tatiana Bur, Lecturer in Classics at the Australian National University. Tatiana is an ancient Greek cultural historian whose work centres around how humans interact with their technologies. She is particularly interested in mechanical texts and objects, and in the ways that technological innovations take off: in myth, story and in the scientific tradition.
